The Muhlenberg men's basketball team hung with top-ranked Swarthmore for a half before falling, 75-62.
With five games to play in the regular season, the Mules (14-6, 7-6) are still in fourth place in the Centennial Conference, a game ahead of Ursinus and two up on Gettysburg and Washington.
Muhlenberg was within two points, 31-29, at halftime and trailed by one after junior
Michael Morreale hit one of his three three-pointers in the first minute of the second half.
The Garnet (20-0, 13-0), one of two undefeated teams (along with San Diego State) in all of NCAA men's basketball, scored on six of its next seven possessions to open up a double-digit lead. The Mules never got closer than eight points the rest of the way.
Sophomore
Dan Gaines led Muhlenberg with 12 points, while Morreale finished with 11 points.
The Mules led 12-7 in the early going and stayed within striking distance for the whole first half even after Swarthmore took the lead midway through the period.Â
Sophomore
Nate Henty Brown (pictured above) contributed 6 points, 7 rebounds and 3 blocked shots.
Three of Muhlenberg's four losses in 2020 are to teams currently ranked in the top 10 in Division III.
