Mark Riggio's 3-yard touchdown run in overtime proved to be the winning score as the Muhlenberg football team toppled Susquehanna, 24-17, in a thrilling game between nationally ranked Centennial Conference teams.

The Mules (3-0, 2-0) came in ranked No. 8 by D3football.com, while the River Hawks (2-1, 1-1) entered the poll at No. 25 after a 28-27 win at then-No. 7 Johns Hopkins last week.

As it did in that game, Susquehanna scored a last-minute touchdown against Muhlenberg, connecting on a 36-yard touchdown pass to knot the game at 17 with 33.4 seconds left.

The Mules took a knee after receiving the ensuing kickoff, sending the two teams into overtime for the second consecutive year.

Despite being outgained 344-248, the Mules never trailed in the game. The first of two blocked punts by senior
Frankie Feaster set up the game's opening score, a 2-yard run by senior tight end
Ryan Curtiss, who ran out of the wildcat formation for the first time.

The River Hawks scored their first points on a second-quarter field goal, sending the teams into the locker room at 7-3.

Muhlenberg opened the second half with a 13-play, 72-yard scoring drive, capped by a 17-yard pass from Hnatkowsky to Curtiss, to make it 14-3. Susquehanna responded with a touchdown on its next drive.

Todd Spirt booted a 35-yard field goal with 9:30 left in the fourth quarter to extend the lead to 17-10.
The Mule defense notched six sacks to keep in check a Susquehanna offense that averaged 35.0 points and almost 500 yards in its first two games. In addition to his two blocked punts, Feaster recorded 2½ sacks, putting him a half-sack away from the program's career mark of 24½. Junior
Nick Sirico had two tackles for loss to go along with his seventh career interception.

McGill recorded his first career interception in the first quarter, stopping a River Hawk drive in the end zone. Senior
Joseph O'Hagan led the defense with nine tackles and broke up a pass.
The Mules have won their last four overtime games, but this was the first time they beat the same time in overtime in consecutive years.
