Game Recap: Men's Basketball |

Men's Basketball Comes Back for Win

The Muhlenberg men's basketball overcame two 10-point deficits and ended the game on a 10-2 run to snap a four-game skid with an 88-82 win at Washington College.

Senior Nick Rindock and sophomore Matt Gnias combined for all 10 points in the game-ending run and 46 points for the game. Rindock scored a season-high 24 points, running his career total to 983, and added five assists. Gnias finished with 22.

Senior Owen McLeod (14 points) and freshman Spencer Duke (10) also scored in double figures, while senior JeanLee Baez contributed nine points.

The Shoremen (5-14, 2-10) took an 80-78 lead on a reverse layup with 2:47 left in the game but did not make another field goal. Rindock hit a three-pointer on the next possession to give the Mules (8-11, 6-6) the lead for good.

After a Washington miss, Gnias rebounded Rindock's missed three and put it back in to extend Muhlenberg's lead to three, 83-80. The Shoremen made two free throws on the other end to draw to within one and had a chance to take the lead with under a minute left, but a three-pointer missed and senior Alex Mitton snagged the defensive rebound.

The Mules made it a two-possession game with 28.3 seconds left when Gnias hit a deep three from the wing.

After the second of two missed Shoremen free throws, Rindock grabbed the rebound and was fouled. He made both free throws with 15.9 ticks on the clock to account for the final margin.

Mitton (pictured above) sealed the win by blocking a shot in the waning seconds.

Washington jumped out to a 20-6 lead in the first six minutes, but Muhlenberg went on an 11-0 run out of a timeout and eventually took its first lead at 39-38 on a three from the corner by McLeod with 1:31 left in the half.

The Mules led 41-40 at the half but found themselves on the wrong side of a 66-55 score midway through the second half. Again they came back, going on a 21-8 run to retake the lead on a Rindock three with 5:31 left.

Mitton finished with four points and six rebounds, and senior Nigel Long dished out five assists without a turnover.

Both teams shot over 50 percent for the game, but the Mule defense rose up at the end, allowing only one field goal in the final six minutes.
