Game Recap: Men's Soccer |

Men's Soccer Stellar in Home Opener

The Muhlenberg men's soccer team poured in three goals in each half on its way to a 6-1 victory over Immaculata.

The six goals for the Mules (2-0) were the most in a home opener since 2004 (6-0 vs. Hunter) and the most in any game since 2014's 8-2 win over DeSales.

Muhlenberg dominated the game from start to finish, outshooting the Mighty Macs (0-3) 24-6 in the contest. The Mule defense only allowed one shot in the first half.

Senior Anthony Carracino and junior Shaun Bartholomew led the Mules with three points apiece. Carracino scored on a penalty kick and assisted a second-half goal while Bartholomew scored the fifth Muhlenberg goal and assisted on the sixth.

Sophomore Zach Cimring tallied the first score in the 28th minute, receiving a cross from sophomore Kevin Hagan and firing a shot into the net for his second goal this season.

Seven minutes later, the Mules struck again off a corner kick, with junior Kevin Irving finding sophomore Ted Kawoczka in the box. Kawoczka headed the ball onto sophomore Matthew Athanas-Linden (pictured above), who tapped the ball past the keeper for his first goal of the season.

Carracino's goal then made it 3-0 Mules at halftime. Carracino helped set up the next goal as well, crossing a set ball to sophomore Jordan Cimring. Freshman Cameron Miller finished the pass he then received from Cimring for his first career goal.

Bartholomew and freshman Victor Jacobs each scored their first career goals later in the half to make it 6-0 Muhlenberg. Cimring provided another assist on the goal by Jacobs, while senior Jan Chmura recorded an assist on Bartholomew's tally.

Junior goalkeeper Jordan Schreer saved the only shot on goal he faced. Freshman goalkeeper Lance Lysiak made his Muhlenberg debut, stopping one shot.
