After winning three straight close games against Susquehanna, the Muhlenberg football team fell in another tight contest, 14-11.
The Mules defeated the River Hawks by four points in 2014 and by three points in each of the last two years, but unlike the previous two games, they could not come up with a winning touchdown after falling behind in the fourth quarter.Â
Muhlenberg held Susquehanna, which gained 444 yards against Johns Hopkins last week, to 231 yards of total offense and forced three turnovers. But the Mules (2-1, 1-1) committed six turnovers of their own to negate an advantage of 93 yards in total offense.
Junior
Nate Corvil picked off passes on consecutive Susquehanna plays in the first quarter for his second career multiple-interception game. Junior

Junior

After a first quarter that featured four interceptions, Muhlenberg got on the board first on a 26-yard field goal by sophomore
Todd Spirt with 9:45 left in the half. Key to the 13-play, 65-yard drive was a 24-yard completion from freshman
Michael Hnatkowsky to junior
Josiah Wright on third-and-6.
Susquehanna scored with just four seconds left in the half to take a 6-3 lead into the locker room.
The Mules regained the lead on a 15-yard touchdown pass from Gibbon to sophomore
Max Kirin with 6:13 left in the third - seven plays after Wright's 60-yard touchdown pass play was called back due to a penalty. Murphy's 35-yard pass play set up the touchdown pass that stood.
The River Hawks scored the winning TD on a 31-yard pass play with 10:24 left. Muhlenberg got the ball back three times afterwards, but had two drives end on interceptions and one on a punt.
