Hayley Peterson pitched one of the best games of her career to lead the Muhlenberg softball team to a 7-0 victory and a split with DeSales.
Peterson
(pictured above) faced only three batters beyond the minimum, giving up an infield hit and two walks for her fourth complete game shutout of her career and her second this season. She matched her season high with four strikeouts in picking up her fourth victory of the year.
The Mules (6-10) shook off a 5-1 loss in the first game of the doubleheader with 10 hits in the nightcap. Senior
Courtney Simon smashed her first career triple over the centerfielder's head and off the wall to drive home the first run for Muhlenberg, and junior
Amelia Shelley brought Simon home on a RBI groundout.
Pinch-hitter
Sara Reibschied doubled to start the next Mule rally and sophomore
Allyson Sweeney followed with a single up the middle. Both runners came around to score on errors to make it 4-0 Muhlenberg after three innings.
Sweeney brought home the next two runs as well with a line drive double to right center in the fourth, and Shelley drove in the final Muhlenberg run in the fifth.

Kristina Qualben each had two hits in the game and Qualben scored two runs. Freshman
Sarah Schubert hit her second double of the season and scored a run as well.
In game one, the Bulldogs (8-10) took a 4-0 lead after two innings. Shelley singled up the middle to bring Qualben home to make it 4-1 in the fourth, but DeSales added another run in the fifth and held the Mules in check from there.

Nicole Bergamo pitched six innings of relief, giving up six hits, three runs and three walks while striking out one.
