Spring Break nearly turned into record break for the Muhlenberg women's lacrosse team.
The Mules (2-1) got goals from 13 players and allowed only two shots in a 16-0 blanking of Emmanuel in Hilton Head. The shutout was the fourth in program history and the largest since an 18-0 win against Chestnut Hill in 2005.
Seniors
Sara Allison and
Alex Grossman and freshman
Jordan Segrave combined for the shutout, with Grossman making the lone save.Â
As they did in their
20-5 win against Arcadia four days earlier, the Mules utilized a balanced attack from the start, with seven different players scoring the first seven goals. Senior
Nora Fisher, sophomore
Amanda Tullo and freshman
Courtney Allen netted two goals apiece for the game, and senior
Kelsey Nagle recorded four assists to move into a tie for second place on the program's all-time list with 94 for her career.
Muhlenberg led 5-0 just 6:46 into the game, with Nagle
(pictured above) assisting on goals by Fisher, junior
Eliza Clark and Tullo. Two of the early goals - from junior
Jordy Bonvini and Clark - came 10 seconds apart.
The dominant effort allowed the Mules to play everyone on their roster, and the final six goals were scored by players who came into the game without a career goal. In addition to Allen scoring her first two, sophomore
Erin Duca and freshmen
Gabriella Crivelli,
Melissa Carmilani and
Victoria Friedel notched their first career goals.
Bonvini added six draw controls to her goal.
