Game Recap: Men's Lacrosse |

Men's Lacrosse Plays Tough in Defeat

The Muhlenberg men's lacrosse team matched Lebanon Valley point for point through three periods but could not keep pace in the fourth, suffering a 9-6 defeat.

The Mules (2-4) scored the first goal of the game and took a 3-2 lead into halftime. The Flying Dutchmen (5-1) tied the game early in the third, and both teams traded scores to head into the fourth period tied 6-6.

The Muhlenberg defense held the score even through the first six minutes of the final period, but Lebanon Valley broke through with a goal with 8:47 left and added two insurance goals soon after to help seal the win.

Freshman Frankie Feaster recorded his first career hat trick to lead the Mules in scoring. Feaster also picked up 10 ground balls and won 11 of 17 faceoffs, making it his fifth straight game with at least 10 ground balls and third straight with double-digit faceoff wins.  He now has the sixth most ground balls in a season (63) and the ninth most faceoff wins (78) in a career by a Mule.

D'Alessandro added two goals, tying him for eighth on the Muhlenberg career points list (93). He scored his first goal 53 seconds into the game, but Lebanon Valley scored the next two. Freshman Declan Moylan tied the game at 2-2 by finishing a pass from junior Kevin Bergenty. It was the first career point for Bergenty (pictured above).

Feaster scored his first goal 11 seconds later to put Muhlenberg back on top heading into halftime. Feaster and D'Alessandro both scored their second goals to put Muhlenberg in the lead again, but the Flying Dutchmen responded each time with a tally of their own. Lebanon Valley then took its own lead before Feaster completed his hat trick to even the score again late in the third period.

Junior Lance Gibson matched his season-best total of 11 saves. Freshman Paul Krueger led the Mules with three caused turnovers. Freshman Frank Caterina and sophomore Nolan Robbins each picked up three ground balls as well.
