Long balls accounted for two of the the three runs as the Muhlenberg softball team was swept at Scranton, 4-1 and 10-2, in its last non-conference doubleheader of the season.
Freshman
Kristina Qualben hit an opposite-field home run in the top of the second inning of the opener to tie the score at 1-1. It was the fifth home run of the season for Qualben, extending her school record for freshmen.
The Royals broke the tie with back-to-back homers in the fourth and held the Mules to two hits, including a single by Qualben, the rest of the way.
In the second game, sophomore
Hanna Caiola gave Muhlenberg a 1-0 lead with a solo home run - her second of the season - in the top of the first. Scranton erased the lead and opened a big one of its own with eight runs in the bottom of the second.
Caiola (pictured above) doubled in the Mules' final run in the fifth.
Muhlenberg has hit 13 home runs this season. That total has been topped only three times in team history.
