The Muhlenberg baseball team managed only two runs on seven hits and was swept in a doubleheader at Franklin & Marshall, 11-0 and 7-2.
The Diplomats scored all their runs in the third and fourth innings in the first game and in the first three frames of the second game. Sharp long relief by seniors
Alex Morisano (pictured above left) and
Connor Annese (pictured above right) prevented F&M from doing any further damage.
Morisano tossed three innings of scoreless, one-hit relief in the opener. Annese, who pitched a 1-2-3 ninth in the first game, followed up that performance with four shutout innings in Game 2. He allowed only one hit and struck out a career-high seven.
After 17 shutout innings, the Mule offense finally broke through in the ninth inning of the second game. Senior
Andrew Rava, who went 3-for-7 on the day, doubled in a run with two outs, and junior
Thomas Yohe followed with an RBI single.Â
Senior
Sean Buecker hit a pinch-hit single in the first game, and freshman
Chris Grillo went 2-for-4 in the second game.
