The Muhlenberg baseball team made a valiant comeback effort but came up a run short and lost at Moravian, 5-4.

Trailing 2-0 heading into the fourth inning, the Mules (7-7) got on the scoreboard thanks to a one-out RBI double by senior Andrew Rava.

The Greyhounds (5-6) added one run in the bottom of the fourth and two more in the fifth before Muhlenberg put up three runs in the sixth.

Following back-to-back hits - a double by junior John Icaza and a single by Rava - junior Robbie Hopes ripped an RBI single up the middle to put the Mules within three runs. Two batters after the Greyhounds took their starting pitcher out of the game, freshman Matt Riebesell hit a long fly ball that was dropped by Moravian's centerfielder to score another run. A ground ball that was hit by freshman Jon Capra was thrown off the bag by the Greyhounds' shortstop to put the Mules within a run.

Muhlenberg had a chance to tie the game with a runner at third in the eighth inning, but the frame ended with a groundout to second base.

Rava went 3-for-4 and also scored a run. Icaza finished 2-for-4 on the afternoon and added a run scored.

Freshman pitcher RJ Hennessey (pictured above) struck out six batters in four innings out of the bullpen. Muhlenberg leads the Matte Award standings, 10-3, after clinching the award exactly two weeks ago.
