Erik Werheim set a new career high with 14 points, making seven of nine shots, as the Muhlenberg men's basketball team fell to Swarthmore 81-49.

Werheim also led the Mules (3-2, 0-2 CC) in rebounds with four and steals with five in 16 minutes coming off the bench.

Muhlenberg scored the first basket of the game on a layup from senior center
John Hunter, but the Garnet (5-0, 2-0 CC) soon took the lead and never relinquished it.

Trailing at the break, Muhlenberg turned up the defensive intensity to start the second half, forcing 10 Swarthmore turnovers in the first 10 minutes of the period. The Mules outscored the Garnet 19-11 during that stretch.

The Mules won the turnover battle 21-18 and tallied 15 steals to go with 11 assists. Coming out of halftime, Muhlenberg shot 48.1 percent from the field and an even 50 percent on three-point tries in the second half.

Matt Gnias each had three assists to lead Muhlenberg, and Miller also contributed three steals.
