The Muhlenberg women's basketball team suffered through some cold shooting and dropped its season opener to Moravian, 58-50.
The Mules shot just 23.3 percent from the field and were not able to capitalize on their own fine defensive effort, which held the Greyhounds to 30.8-percent shooting and forced 22 turnovers.
Senior
Maggie Zerbe tied her career high with 13 points, and in her first career start sophomore
Sara Dilly (pictured above) set career highs in points (10) and rebounds (7) while adding five assists and two steals.
Muhlenberg trailed by as many as nine points before buckets by Dilly and Zerbe in the final two minutes of the half cut the deficit to 33-28. The Mules got as close as one point, 35-34, three minutes into the third quarter, but could not get over the hump in a second half in which points were hard to come by.
Junior
Chelsea Gary also made her first career start and finished with eight points, eight rebounds and a career-high-tying five blocked shots. Junior
Rachel Plotke scored nine points and tied a career high with five steals, and sophomore
Carley Hamilton finished with five points and five rebounds in her Muhlenberg debut.
