The Muhlenberg men's soccer team scored twice to come from behind in the second half and tie its match at 14th-ranked Franklin and Marshall, but the Diplomats scored in double overtime to defeat the Mules 3-2 in a tightly fought contest.
Down 2-0 in the second period, the Mules (3-5-2, 1-2-1 CC) scored twice in a 10-minute stretch to eventually force overtime. The Diplomats (7-1-3, 3-0-1 CC) were then able to score with 4:35 left in the second overtime to come away with the win.
Junior
Anthony Carracino (pictured above) scored Muhlenberg's first goal on a left-footed boot from 25 yards out for his third goal of the season, making it 2-1 in the 66th minute.
The Mules earned a penalty kick in the 76th minute to set up their next opportunity. Sophomore
Christian Wieand took the penalty shot and scored to tie the match at 2-2. The goal for Wieand was his third this season, all coming from penalty kicks.
Muhlenberg had three shots in the first overtime, two from Carracino and one from senior
Phil Rahling. Carracino's second shot near the end of overtime came close to giving the Mules the win, but it was saved by the Franklin and Marshall goalie to extend the match.
The teams were relatively even in shot attempts, with the Diplomats taking 15 total to the Mules' 14 shots.

Alex Tomko recorded four saves for the Mules while playing the entire match in net.
