Photo GalleryThe Muhlenberg women's soccer team fell to 0-2 on the young season with a 4-2 loss at Wilkes on the second day of the Lady Colonels Classic.
The Mules took a 1-0 lead in the 15th minute when senior
Nicole Karsch put in a rebound for her third career goal. Sophomore
Phoebe Shields forced the Wilkes goal to make a diving save with a blast from the right, and ball deflected out to Karsch
(pictured above), who booted it into the net before the goalie could recover.
The Colonels (1-1-1) tied the game just 37 seconds later, however, and scored two goals 10 minutes apart in the second half to take a 3-1 lead. Muhlenberg closed the margin to one when senior
Taylor Pini fired in a shot with under 18 minutes to play, but hopes for a comeback were thwarted when the Mules were called for a hand ball in the box and Wilkes converted the penalty kick.
