Box ScoreIt was a case of "instant Rem-play" for the Muhlenberg men's soccer team.
For the second time in five days, junior
Jeff Remley scored the go-ahead goal as the Mules overcame a 1-0 deficit to post a road win. This time the opponent was DeSales, and the 2-1 win evened Muhlenberg's record at 3-3-1.
The Bulldogs (3-5) took a 1-0 lead on a goal late in the first half. Muhlenberg caught a break just 39 seconds in the second half when a DeSales back attempted to head the ball back to his goalie but overshot him and put the ball in the net for an own goal.
Remley's winning goal came off a free kick with 24:09 left in the second half. Both the DeSales goalie and senior
Tommy Hoffmann went after
Jack Dusing's kick in front of the goal. The ball went off Hoffmann's head right to Remley, who tapped it into the empty net for this third career goal.
Senior
Ellison Heil, making his first start of the season, preserved the game by making a kick save on a breakaway with less than two minutes remaining. Heil
(pictured above) finished the game with two saves to earn his first win since 2013.
