Christian Ferlan and
David Anderson combined to allow no earned runs as the Muhlenberg baseball team wrapped up its Spring Break trip to Myrtle Beach with a 7-2 win against Johnson & Wales.
Ferlan pitched the first five innings, allowing seven hits and striking out five. He did his best work in the fourth, striking out the side - all looking - to work out of a bases-loaded situation.
Anderson finished up with four innings of scoreless, two-hit relief to earn the save. Over the last 17 2/3 innings, Mule pitchers have not given up an earned run.
A day after coming back from an early 4-0 deficit to beat Scranton, Muhlenberg (4-4) jumped on top of the Wildcats, who won 29 games last year, with two in the first and three in the second. Senior

Robbie Hopes had the big hit in the second, a two-run single.

John Icaza, who reached base in his first four plate appearances and scored three runs, singled in the fourth and went to third on a one-out double by Hopes. Senior

Michael Giordano (pictured above) all had two hits for the Mules. Icaza led the team with a .400 batting average on the eight-game trip.
