Women's Basketball Ranked 21st

The Muhlenberg women's basketball team is ranked 21st in the first D3hoops.com poll of the 2015-16 season.

The Mules won their first four games, with two of the wins coming against teams that received votes in the poll: Moravian and Cortland State. Moravian has won six in a row by an average of 22.0 points since its season-opening loss to Muhlenberg, including a 65-58 defeat of eight-ranked Montclair State last night (after voting on the poll was completed).

The in-season poll appearance is the first for the Mules since they were ranked 18th in late January during the 2011-12 season. They received votes in the 2012-13 preseason poll.

Muhlenberg will put its undefeated record and national ranking on the line tonight at Haverford in a matchup of the last two Centennial Conference champions, who offer a contrast in styles. The Mules lead the CC and rank 27th in Division III in scoring offense, at 77.8 points per game, while the Fords lead the CC and are 23rd in the country in scoring defense, allowing only 48.0 points per game. Muhlenberg, for its part, is 25th in Division III in field-goal percentage defense.

Sophomore point guard Brandi Vallely also earned recognition from D3hoops.com, landing on the team of the week after recording her third triple-double of the season in a 78-50 CC win against Franklin & Marshall. Vallely leads all three NCAA divisions in assists per game (11.8) and triple-doubles.
