Brandi Vallely continued to make history, recording her second straight triple-double to lead the Muhlenberg women's basketball team past Hood, 82-50, in the first round of the Scotty Wood Tournament.
The Mules (2-0) advanced to the championship game for the 23rd straight year to face SUNY Cortland, a 62-53 winner against Delaware Valley.
Six days after notching the third triple-double in program history in the season-opening win at Moravian, Vallely amassed 14 points, 12 assists and 11 rebounds for the fourth. In her first two career starts, Vallely has as many triple-doubles as all Muhlenberg players in the first 56 years of the team's existence.
Vallely, who broke a Scotty Wood Tournament record with her 12 assists, needed only 24 minutes for her triple-double and added five steals. She is the first player in Centennial Conference history with more than one triple-double.
Vallely was halfway to the triple-double in the first quarter alone, with six points, five assists and five rebounds in the first 10 minutes. The Mules led 22-7 after one and breezed the rest of the way.
