Ben Arehart broke the school record in the high jump at the TCNJ Last Chance Meet.
On his third and final attempt, Arehart cleared 6-8¾ (2.05 meters) to topple the mark of 6-8½ that had stood since 1987. Arehart's previous personal best of 6-6¾ (2.00 meters) came while winning the gold medal at the Centennial Conference Championships 10 days ago.
Arehart finished first at TCNJ and, more importantly, improved his chances of qualifying for the NCAA Championships. Entering the day, only 14 Division III jumpers had cleared 6-8¾ or better.
Arehart will get another shot to improve his mark at the Rowan Final Qualifier next Thursday.
