The Muhlenberg women's basketball team is ranked 22nd in the first D3hoops.com poll of the 2017-18 season.

The Mules, who received 38 votes in the preseason poll, placing them seven spots outside the top 25, have opened the season with four straight wins. Three of them have come against teams (Moravian, Notre Dame and Lycoming) that have no other losses to date. Moravian was just behind Muhlenberg in the preseason poll and is still receiving votes.

In the 17 seasons since the Mules burst onto the national scene, they have appeared in the top 25 in all but six. 

Of the more than 400 teams in Division III, and the 170 that have been ranked at least once since D3hoops.com first began producing a poll at the start of the 1999-2000 season, Muhlenberg is 30th with 74 weeks ranked - by far the most of any Centennial Conference team.

Although it's early in the season, the Mules show up several times in upper reaches of the NCAA statistical rankings. They are first in assists per game (24.3), second in assist-to-turnover ratio (2.20), third in blocked shots per game (8.0), fifth in scoring offense (88.3 points per game) and seventh in scoring margin (32.3 points per game).
