The first Muhlenberg Duals were a success for the Muhlenberg wrestling team, which won four of five matches at the event held as part of Scotty Wood Weekend.

The Mules scored big wins over Temple (47-6), Thaddeus Stevens (46-4), Keystone (32-21) and Southern Virginia (55-0). Their lone loss came to 17th-ranked Wilkes (32-12).

Three Muhlenberg wrestlers were undefeated on the day, none in more impressive fashion than junior 174-pounder Jake Gordon. He won all five of his bouts with bonus points, with three technical falls and two major decisions.

Sophomore Gennaro Cerminara also went 5-0, winning by technical fall and pin in his two contested bouts. Sophomore Jimmy Fratantoni was 4-0, pinning his first opponent in just 48 seconds and later adding a technical fall and a decision, to improve to 8-2 for the season.

Freshman Scott Schaeffer (pictured above) capped the long but successful day of wrestling with a technical fall at heavyweight against Southern Virginia. He finished with a 4-1 record.

Freshman Michael Dougan notched his first career win with a 14-4 major decision at 165 vs. Southern Virginia.
