Three Muhlenberg athletes were honored by the Centennial Conference for their performances last week.
Sophomore
Sara Finger was named women's tennis player of the week, sophomore
Michelle Gaykowski was tabbed women's field athlete of the week, and senior
Tyler Bauer earned the nod as men's field athlete of the week.
Finger
(pictured above left) won both of her singles matches at the top of the lineup to lead the Mules to a pair of come-from-behind Centennial Conference wins. After Muhlenberg was swept in doubles by regionally ranked Swarthmore, Finger's 7-6 (7-1), 6-2 singles win started
a sweep of singles for a 6-3 win - only the Mules' second at Swarthmore in the last 25 years. The Mules trailed 2-1 after doubles vs. Gettysburg (with Finger contributing to the lone win) before winning five of six singles matches to again win 6-3. Finger was impressive in a 6-0, 6-1 win at first singles.
Gaykowski
(pictured above top right) broke the school record in the discus by more than 15 feet, throwing 136-6 at the Lafayette 7-Way Invitational. The 10th-best mark in Division III this season improved her personal best by more than 17 feet. Gaykowski finished second overall, behind only a Division I thrower, in a field of 18 that included 11 athletes from Divisions I and II.

Bauer
(pictured above bottom right) recorded the 10th-best javelin mark in Division III history at the Lafayette 7-Way Invitational. On his first attempt of the outdoor season, he unleashed a throw of 68.64 meters (225-2) - the best in Division III this year by more than 17 feet. The two-time All-American broke his own school record by more than 10 feet and eclipsed a Centennial Conference record that had stood since 1996. Bauer won the event by 26 feet, 11 inches.
